What is Rapport?

Rapport is security software which protects web communication between enterprises and is often used by banks to add extra security to internet banking processes.

Rapport is not a replacement for your existing anti-virus software, instead it acts alongside your virus protection to allow safe communication to a website and prevent malware and phishing attacks.  The makers of the software claim that, because Rapport locks down access to data rather than just looking for malware signatures, it is equipped to protect against all forms of malware whether new or previously known.

Should I Install Rapport?

It is a good idea to install Rapport which is free to download and will keep you safe if you use internet banking frequently.

However, every time you access a website an extra layer of processing will take place which, in our experience, can slow down your PC and cause a performance drop especially if your PC is quite old.

If you have a newer model PC you shouldn’t notice any significant drop in performance, so it is a good idea to install Rapport anyway to keep yourself protected. If your processor is outdated you should expect Rapport to slow it down further, and you may want to think about upgrading your PC.
